Marketing and Media
This special evening included a 90-minute screening, appetizers, networking, and a distinguished panel discussing the importance of infrastructure in building the United States.Moderator:
- Ms. Mary Wisniewski, Transportation, Chicago Tribune
Mr. Daniel Burke, Deputy Commissioner, Engineering, Chicago Department of Transportation
Dr. Alan Cramb, President, Illinois Institute of Technology
Ms. Basia Myszynski, co-filmmaker, Bridging Urban America
BRIDGING URBAN AMERICA celebrates master engineer Ralph Modjeski, his strategically significant 20th century bridges and their impact on urban development and commerce. The film penetrates the scientific mind and artistic soul of a Polish-born, Paris trained immigrant who contributed to the building of a modern America, paying tribute to innovative engineering, fabricators and workers during two eras of building transportation infrastructure. Modjeski was a founding member of the Chicago Engineers’ Club which was originally launched in 1913 and after 61 years merged with the Union League Club in 1974. He was also a member of the Union League Club.
The film BRIDGING URBAN AMERICA is highly relevant to our current generation because it heightens the awareness of the deteriorating state of our bridges today and shows how communities search for sustainable solutions to maintain, rehabilitate and preserve these critical parts of North America's infrastructure.
Bridge enthusiasts, American history buffs, architects, urban planners, engineers as well as those interested in celebrity, music and entrepreneurship of the early 20th century will find this documentary a magnificent cinematic experience.
