Current Volunteer Opportunities

Each year volunteers participate in more than 50 different STEM activities around the area; helping at STEM events, participating in career fairs, and visiting classrooms to talk to students about engineering.  In the last academic year, Chicago Engineers’ Foundation impacted more than 1,600 K-12 students thanks to our amazing volunteers!  

No experience is necessary, and training/resources are provided to each volunteer. 

Chicago Engineers’ Foundation High School Student/Professional Networking Event
Saturday, February 22nd from 10am to 12:30pm at the Union League Club of Chicago (65 W Jackson)
Summary: The annual High School Student/Professional Networking event is an opportunity for Chicago high school students to engage in informal networking and discussions with professionals and fellow students. Ten to twelve volunteers of all STEM professional backgrounds are welcome to participate. No experience is necessary. This is a business casual activity and light refreshments will be served.

NSBE-Chicago’s Engineers Week Expo
Saturday, February 22nd from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm at UIC Student Center East in Chicago
Summary:  The annual Expo brings students together with engineering professionals for a day of projects, career chats, and more in celebration of National Engineers Week. Volunteers are welcome to participate with no experience necessary. To Volunteer Complete THIS FORM

Career Fest at George Leland STEM Elementary School
Wednesday, March 5th from 8:30am to 1:00pm at 512 S. Lavergne Avenue in Chicago.
Summary:  Engineering professionals will visit K-12 classrooms to talk to students about their engineering careers. Speakers templates and powerpoint slides are available for volunteers to personalize to their own career experiences.

Chicago Association of Student Engineers Career Presentations
Saturdays from 10am to 11am on March 1, April 5, or May 3
VIRTUAL Via ZOOM
Summary: The Chicago Association of Student Engineers is a student-led organization for Chicago area high school students planning to pursue engineering careers. An engineering professional will facilitate a discussion about their career path for the students, followed by a question & answer period. A powerpoint template will be provided for the speaker to customize.

We are looking for Chicago-based firms interested in hosting short tours for students to learn about engineering careers. You will set the date and time and we will take care of student RSVPs.
