Volunteer Opportunities

Chicago Engineers’ Foundation volunteers help the organization in many ways.  Get involved to encourage and empower the next generation of Chicago engineers.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • K-12 Classroom Visits:  Engineering professionals visit area schools and community groups to talk about careers in the sector, serve as career day mentors, or STEM fair judges.
  • Incentive Award Reviews:  From April through May, volunteers serve as application review volunteers, helping to evaluate the next class of Incentive Award applicants.  (This is an online opportunity).
  • Career Development:  Engineers and other professionals support award recipients by offering their time and expertise at Student Success workshops and other activities.
  • Leadership  and Support Opportunities:  Individuals serve on various working committees, assist at events, and hold positions on the CEF Board of Directors.

CEF volunteers come from a variety of professional backgrounds.  They include professional engineers, attorneys, retirees, former award recipients, and Union League Club members who generously donate their time and talents to inspire the next generation of engineers.

CEF volunteers also work for many companies including Amtrak, Illinois Tool Works, TranSystems Corporation, Presence Health, Jacobs Engineering, federal and state agencies, and intellectual property law firms.  Their engineering disciplines include Computer, Civil, Mechanical, Biomedical, Software, Transportation, Chemical and Electrical Engineering, among many others.

Volunteer opportunities are available during the day and evening hours.
