Chicago Engineers’ Foundation volunteers hold a variety of roles within the organization. Professional engineers visit area schools and community groups to talk about careers in the sector. Individuals also serve as Board leaders, on various working committees, assist at events, and help review incentive award applications. CEF volunteers come from a variety of professional backgrounds. They include professional engineers, attorneys, retirees, former award recipients, and Union League Club members who generously donate their time and talents to inspire the next generation of engineers.
CEF volunteers work for a variety of firms and companies, such as Amtrak, Illinois Tool Works, TranSystems Corporation, Presence Health, Jacobs Engineering, federal and state agencies, and intellectual property law firms. Their engineering disciplines include Computer, Civil, Mechanical, Biomedical, Software, Transportation, Chemical and Electrical Engineering, among many others.
Volunteer opportunities take place both during the day and on evenings. Outreach presentations are at Chicago schools and organizations, and opportunities are available both during and after the school day. Volunteers may facilitate student group presentations, speak at career fairs, and support other youth-oriented engineering activities. Many CEF meetings and events are also hosted at the Union League Club of Chicago, and volunteers are integral to the success of our initiatives.
As a volunteer, you can help CEF encourage and empower tomorrow’s engineers.
