Volunteer Opportunities

Chicago Engineers’ Foundation volunteers help the organization in many ways.  Get involved to empower the next generation of Chicago engineers.  Volunteer activities are currently a mix of virtual and in-person opportunities.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • K-12 Outreach:  Engineering professionals virtually visit K-12 student groups to inspire young minds and also volunteer to participate in youth STEM events.
  • Incentive Award Reviews:  Each Spring, volunteers provide application reviews, helping to evaluate applications to determine the next class of Incentive Award recipients.
  • Career Development:  Engineers and other professionals support college students by offering their time and expertise during online networking, mentoring discussions, resume evaluations, and mock interview sessions.
  • Leadership  and Support Opportunities:  Individuals serve on various working committees, assist with events, and hold positions on the CEF Board of Directors.

CEF volunteers come from a variety of professional backgrounds.  They include engineering professionals, attorneys, retirees, former award recipients, Union League Club members, and others who all generously give their time and talents to inspire the next generation of engineers.  There is no experience required to volunteer and training is provided for all activities.

CEF volunteers represent many companies including CISCO, Microsoft, Avant, Illinois Tool Works, TranSystems, Primera, Jacobs, Epstein, federal and state agencies, and intellectual property law firms.  The engineering disciplines represented within the volunteer pool include Computer, Civil, Mechanical, Biomedical, Software, Transportation, Chemical and Electrical Engineering, among many others.

Volunteer opportunities are available during the day and evening hours.
