CEF Celebrates Engineers Week 2022
The week of February 21st through 26th was National Engineers’ Week. From the Engineering Focus luncheon, to classroom visits across Chicago, and virtual scholarship discussions, Chicago Engineers Foundation (CEF) celebrated #WhatEngineersDo and inspired students to explore engineering careers.
The Engineering Focus luncheon took place on February 22, 2022 as a kickoff to E-Week in Chicago. Dr. Andrea Cheng, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Water Management served as the keynote speaker to discuss the legacy and future of public sector engineering. A highlight of the event was a special presentation by Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Mariyana Spyropoulos, who presented the CEF leadership team with a special resolution in honor of National Engineers Week and Chicago Engineers Foundation’s mission to inspire and empower students to become the next generation of engineers.
Throughout the week, CEF volunteers visited pre-engineering classrooms at Chicago Public Schools throughout the city to speak with students about engineering careers. During the week, engineering professionals impacted dozens of high school students.
Another highlight of the week was the Engineering Futures scholarship event. Chicago Engineers Foundation partnered with Calculated Genius, Just the Right Amount, and the Chicago Public School’s scholarship team to discuss engineering scholarship opportunities as well as tips for creating successful scholarship applications.
Happy Engineers Week 2022 from Chicago Engineers Foundation!
